Dwa lata po premierze rewolucyjnego (i rewelacyjnego!) albumu „Ray of Light” Madonna postanowiła sięgnąć po inspiracje folkiem i country. Tak powstało wydawnictwo „Music”, które w 2020 roku świętuje dwudzieste urodziny. Z tej okazji przypominam utwór, który szczególnie sobie cenię.
„Paradise (Not for Me)” wpadło mi w ucho już podczas pierwszego spotkania z płytą „Music”. A było to dobre dziesięć lat temu, bo w chwili premiery ósmego albumu Madonny bardziej interesowała mnie twórczość Britney Spears. „Paradise (Not for Me)” wciąż jednak mnie zaskakuje. Mimo upływu lat ta elektroniczno-smyczkowa kompozycja brzmi intrygująco i świeżo. Wisienką na torcie jest tekst (angielsko-francuski), w którym artystka spogląda z melancholią na minione lata.
Piosenka „Paradise (Not for Me)” powstała w wyniku współpracy artystki z afgańsko-włoskim, choć stacjonującym we Francji producentem i muzykiem Mirwaisem. Praca nad utworami z płyty „Music” była ich pierwszym spotkaniem. W późniejszych latach stworzyli wspólnie po kilka kompozycji na takie krążki Madonny jak „Madame X” (między innymi „Dark Ballett” i „I Don’t Search I Find”) i „American Life” („Nothing Fails”, „Easy Ride”).
